Mykel Beorchia


Mykel Beorchia is a doctoral student in the Instructional Technology and Learning Science Department at Utah State University. She is interested in utilizing the Appreciative Advising framework with college students as they maximize their educational opportunities. She creates joy by knitting, finding information about her ancestors, and preserving food from her garden.

Mykel is the Director of the Office of Appreciative Education at Florida Atlantic University where she curates professional development opportunities for student-facing professionals across the globe. Mykel was the 2021-2023 chair for the Appreciative Advising Community sponsored by NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.

In her role as Executive Director of University and Exploratory Advising at Utah State University (USU) from 2015-2024 she utilized the Appreciative Education framework to coordinate USU’s decentralized advising system involving over 90 academic advisors at 30 sites and centers throughout the state of Utah.
